96: The Lair of The White Worm (w/ Paul Etheredge)
Friday Apr 03, 2020
Friday Apr 03, 2020
Quarantine continues. How many days have elapsed? Am I mad? Probably... The message remains. Stay in and stay safe, please.
So, to the guest then! A man of integrity. A forgiving man. A man who has come on despite having previously covered his OWN film, HELLBENT...
It's Paul Etheredge!
His chosen film? The Lair of The White Worm!
Director Ken Russell dropped this, one of his sillier offerings, way back in 1988. It's a hoot. It's a hoot that features Amanda Donohoe, Hugh Grant and Peter Capaldi! And a big fucking worm.
The synopsis is as follows:
On a farm owned by Eve Trent and her sister Mary, young archaeologist Angus Flint discovers a large and inexplicable skull, which he soon deduces belonged to the D'Ampton Worm, a mythical beast supposedly slain generations ago by the ancestor of the current Lord D'Ampton.
The predatory Lady Sylvia Marsh soon takes an interest in both Flint and the virginal Eve, hinting that the vicious D'Ampton Worm may still live.

Minisode 96: He Thought He Was A Hummingbird
Monday Mar 30, 2020
Monday Mar 30, 2020
So, week 2 of isolation approaches. How are we all doing? Hanging in there? We know this isn't ideal but we will all look back on this transformative period when we are all drunk together again and say "Wow! That was a fucking weird time" and we will raise a glass to the fact that we all mucked in and got through it.
We sincerely hope that all of our listeners and families are keeping safe and well.
Anyway, onto this week and Minisode 96!
Topics include Leigh Whannell's re-imagining of the classic THE INVISIBLE MAN, Jordan Rubin's THE DRONE and Mitch continues his 90s side-quest with LEPRECHAUN! Also, there's another installment of MITCH'S PITCHES!
Due to his well documented ignorance towards films, Mitch is shown a film poster with all titles, taglines etc removed and tasked with attempting to decipher the plot. Will it go well? The poster image can be seen below...
We also announce the film and guest for this week's main episode.
In addition to all this, we dig into your posts and messages in the Feedback section and tell you what you should be watching as we look at what's arriving on streaming platforms this week!

95: Invaders From Mars (w/ Sarah Daly)
Friday Mar 27, 2020
Friday Mar 27, 2020
So I know this goes without saying but for this episode we continue the current trend of social distancing to protect ourselves, others and in some small way, combat the current Coronavirus pandemic. So it is that Mitch, Andy and our guest find themselves isolated in their respective houses, three-way Skyping. We have never tried this before...
So, to the guest then! She is one of the driving forces behind our pals at Hex Media. She is also a producer and writer of films such as LORD OF TEARS, THE UNKINDNESS OF RAVENS, THE BLACK GLOVES and THE DEVIL'S MACHINE...
It's Sarah Daly!
Her chosen film? Invaders From Mars!
A Tobe Hooper film? A Cannon Picture? Sign me up! YES! We are going back to 1988 for a film made as part of Hooper's multi-picture deal with Golan/Globus which also saw him direct Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Lifeforce! This is one of the only films in Hooper's oeuvre that can reasonably be called a kid's film BUT is it?
Invaders From Mars is a fun-little remake of the 1953 film of the same name which stars Karen Black (House of 1000 Corpses), Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) and James Karen (Return of The Living Dead).
The synopsis is as follows:
Little David Gardner’s starry-eyed dreams turn into an out-of-this-world nightmare when invaders from the red planet land in his backyard and unleash their hostilities on unsuspecting earthlings!
Paralyzed with fear as the aliens take over the minds of his mom, dad and even his schoolmates, David must somehow find a way to stop them: before they turn the whole human race into brain-dead zombies!
Huge thanks to Sarah for joining us! Follow her on Twitter HERE! You can also check out the Hex Media website HERE!

Minisode 95: Social Distancing
Monday Mar 23, 2020
Monday Mar 23, 2020
So as everything continues to go to hell in a handbasket, we can all agree that the general vibe, globally, is one of uncertainty. The only things certain in life are death, taxes and that, for as long as we are physically able to do so, we will bring you new episodes as usual and this week is no different... Here is Minisode 95!
In all seriousness though, we love every one of you out there. Please stay safe and stay well and for fuck sake, listen to the experts and stay inside. Please. Don't put yourselves or anyone else at risk. We want to see you at future live shows once this blows over.
Topics include a look back at Series 5 of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pembertons excellent anthology series INSIDE No. 9, former guest Sam Ashurst's latest offering A LITTLE MORE FLESH and Mitch continues his 90s side-quest with TICKS! Also, there's another installment of MITCH'S PITCHES!
Due to his well documented ignorance towards films, Mitch is shown a film poster with all titles, taglines etc removed and tasked with attempting to decipher the plot. Will it go well? The poster image can be seen below...

94: Gremlins 2: The New Batch (w/ Adam Stovall)
Friday Mar 20, 2020
Friday Mar 20, 2020
Wow. Lockdown! Quarantine! Self-isolation.
It's fair to say that this has been one of the stranger weeks in our lifetimes and things are pretty up in the air and crazy. A little normalcy is what's required here so will continue to bring you episodes as usual. We will not abandon the quarantined.
Now then, this week, fresh off the back of an amazing screening at Glasgow Frightfest which saw his film A Ghost Waits top MANY best of the fest lists AND being good enough to join us in person... It's Adam Stovall!
His chosen film? Gremlins 2: The New Batch!
Yes! It's 1990! It's the first 12 rated film that Andy saw in the cinema! It's one of the most tonally outrageous sequels ever made!
The synopsis is as follows:
The magical collectibles store that Gizmo calls home has just been destroyed, and the tiny monster finds his way into a newly erected skyscraper.
Billy Peltzer and his bride-to-be, Kate, who have previously dealt with Gremlins run amok, discover that Gizmo and an impish legion of reptilian pals are inhabiting the downtown building. The couple tries to stop the creatures from escaping into New York City, but this new batch of beasts might be uncontrollable.

92: Hell Comes To Frogtown (Andy v Mitch)
Friday Mar 06, 2020
Friday Mar 06, 2020
Look, look. I know. I know we only did one of these the other week when Mitch picked Eli Roth's Knock Knock but here we are again.
The reason is simple. We have a LIVE show this week that is taking up a lot of our brainpower, not to mention the fact that the apparent runtime of Roland Emmerich's Godzilla is approximately 2 YEARS.
So with that in mind, we thought we would take it easy. So, it's Andy to choose...
His chosen film? Hell Comes To Frogtown!
1988. The world was a very different place and especially as it relates to sexual politics and thundering it's way from this tumultuous era comes this film. A film whose plotline would not even get a sniff in if were pitched in 2020. A film spearheaded by late wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. A film with functional camouflage underwear. A film with fez-wearing frogs.
It has it all...
The synopsis is as follows:
With the 20th Century drawing to a close, nuclear war has wiped out civilization as we know it. The embattled human race s last remaining hope lies with one man and his loaded weapon.
Sam Hell may be an ex-con, but he also happens to be one of the last surviving fertile men on the planet. Now, under the custody of a group of feisty female fighters, Sam finds himself enlisted on a mission to impregnate a harem of beauties. Sounds cushy enough, but the ladies in question are prisoners of Frogtown, home to a gang of mutant (and ill-mannered) amphibians!
Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents.
