You may recall in the last Minisode that we announced that, once a month, for scheduling reasons and a wee change of pace, that we will releasing an Andy/Mitch episode as a matter of course.

Good morning! Join us for Episode 85, won't you? This one is a doozy...
This week, we are delighted to be joined by the director of Frightfest 2019 selection Sadistic Intentions... It's Eric Pennycoff!
His chosen film? Mortal Kombat: Annihilation!
Considered by Mitch to be "quite possibly the worst film we have ever done", MK: A is the direct sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson's 1995 video game adaptation and, as mediocre as that film is, the sequel is a horse of a different colour.
With James Remar replacing Christopher Lambert as Lord Raiden and only Robin Shou and Talisa Soto reprising their roles from the first film, cinematographer-turned-director John R. Leonetti (Annabelle, Wish Upon) steps into the directing seat for a film that is often considered one of the worst films of the 1990s.
Did I mention it cost $30 million?
The synopsis is as follows:
Every generation, a portal opens up between the Outerworld and Earth. Emperor Shao-Kahn, ruler of the mythical Outerworld, pounces the moment the portal reopens and slips through with his mighty warriors, intent on total domination and uniting the two worlds.
However, he has only seven days to complete his task.
In the meantime, opposition grows and warriors Sonya Blade, Jax, Kitana and Liu Kang get ready for war.

Well, it's official. It's 2020 and we are back, proper! So, without further ado... Here is Episode 84!

Back in 1995, Michael Crichton was flavour of the month, due in no small part to the not inconsiderable success of Jurassic Park, and ahead of the glut of adaptations that would follow. Nestled in among the early offerings is Congo!
Directed by Frank Marshall (Alive, Arachnophobia) and boasting an all-star cast which features Tim Curry, Ernie Hudson, Bruce Campbell, Joe Don Baker, Joe Pantoliano and Mitch's favourite, Laura Linney, Congo is an old-school actioner injected with 90's tech nonsense.
But is it any good?
The synopsis is as follows:
Scientist Karen Ross is sent by her father-in-law, mogul R.B. Travis, to the Congo to determine the whereabouts of his son's missing diamond-hunting team.
Led by expert guide Kelly, Ross and a mismatched search party -- including primatologist Dr. Peter Elliot, treasure hunter Herkermer Homolka and a gorilla -- discover a danger far more sinister than anything they expected to find, even in the heart of the jungle.

Ho Ho Ho! Good morning and welcome to EPISODE 83, our last episode of 2019!

Not to be confused with the heart-warming (if no less sinister) family film of the same name from the following year which sees Michael Keaton die only to be resurrected as a snowman, Jack Frost 1997 is an icy slice of festive trash with a mean-spirit which features the debut of American Pie's Shannon Elizabeth in a scene that has not aged particularly well...
