Well. That's it. The first HUGE milestone is behind us. 100 Episodes and now, it's business as usual as we fire into our next century with EPISODE 101!
So, with that in mind, we thought now would be a good time to bring back one of our favourite guests. You may remember her from WAY back in Episode 13, where she defended Johnny Mnemonic. She is the director of the excellent IMITATION GIRL and the upcoming LUCKY...
It is, of course, Natasha Kermani!
Her chosen film? Æon Flux!
Natasha continues her hot streak of selecting dystopian, or in this case utopian, sci-fi flicks with this one from director Karyn Kusama, who has gone on to make far better films such as Jennifer's Body, The Invitation and Destroyer. Based on an MTV animated series and the victim of intense studio meddling, Æon Flux was received poorly on release... but is this reputation deserved?
Æon Flux also features an incredible cast which includes Charlize Theron in the titular role, Jonny Lee Miller, Pete Postlethwaite, Sophie Okonedo and Frances McDormand!
The synopsis is as follows:
In the 25th century, the Earth's population has dwindled to a surviving five million following a devastating virus that almost resulted in the extinction of all human life 400 years earlier.
Confined to one city-state, a group of rebels, led by Handler, seeks to destroy the oppressive government -- first, by assassinating a high-ranking chairman.
Tasked with this mission, Aeon Flux must integrate herself in a world of deceit and mystery.
Huge thanks to Natasha for joining us! Follow her on Instagram HERE!
Also, massive thanks to RUIN ME director Preston De Francis for his opening message!
Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents.
