11: Memoirs of An Invisible Man (w/ Tyler MacIntyre)
Friday Jul 13, 2018
Friday Jul 13, 2018
Episode 11 sees Andy and Mitch joined by Tyler MacIntyre, director of Patchwork and Frightfest 2017 closing film, Tragedy Girls.
His chosen film?
Memoirs of an Invisible Man!
Based on H.F. Saint's novel of the same name and coming four years after They Live, Memoirs of an Invisible Man is considered something of an anomaly in John Carpenter's filmography. A critical and commercial failure on its release, is this reputation deserved?
The synopsis is as follows,
Nick Holloway has always had charm. Sophisticated and successful, he's always been able to stay a step ahead of the rest, whether by placating his boring boss or by fascinating beautiful women. But a bizarre accident turns his life upside down and threatens his lifestyle and relationships; Nick becomes invisible! So who can catch a man that can't be seen? Well, the CIA are going to try, as the chance to have an invisible agent is too tempting to ignore. Corrupt CIA man David Jenkins sets off in hot pursuit. But being invisible does have its advantages as Nick is able to pursue gorgeous documentary producer Alice Monroe in ways she's never seen before! The two of them must try to avoid the treacherous Agent Jenkins while pursuing Nick's manic quest to somehow find a way to reverse his invisibility.

10: The Ninth Configuration (w/ Heather Buckley)
Friday Jul 06, 2018
Friday Jul 06, 2018
Holy shit! Double digits. So what, I hear you cry, can we expect from this milestone episode?
Well, it's time for something completely different as Episode 10 sees Andy and Mitch joined by Heather Buckley, producer of Frightfest 2018 opening film, Jenn Wexler's The Ranger!
Her chosen film?
The Ninth Configuration!
Considered by some to be the "true" sequel to The Exorcist and from the mind of the very same man whose pen crafted that particular tale, 1980's The Ninth Configuration is a unique, unforgettable and thought-provoking meditation on sacrifice, faith and the nature of "good".
The synopsis is as follows,
Army psychiatrist Colonel Kane is posted to a secluded Gothic castle housing a military asylum. With a reserved calm he indulges the inmates' delusions, allowing them free rein to express their fantasies. But some are wary of the newcomer and his methods. There may be more to Kane than meets the eye and the insanity escalates towards an explosive revelation.

Wow. There were a lot of reactions off the back of last week's episode which saw Andy & Mitch joined by Rob Morgan to discuss Xtro! A lot of love and an equal amount of ambivalence. It's certainly an interesting film and worth a watch. Huge thanks to Rob for coming on and speaking in such impassioned tones about it.
Now with Xtro in the past, we take this time to bid a hearty hello to MINISODE 9!
Topics include Natasha Kermani's Lauren Ashley Carter-starring Imitation Girl plus the guys dig in to the newly announced line-up for Frightfest 2018! Also, as always, they announce the guest and film for this week and EPISODE 10! Double digits, baby!

9: XTRO (w/ Robert Morgan)
Friday Jun 29, 2018
Friday Jun 29, 2018
Episode 9 sees Andy and Mitch joined by award-winning animator Robert Morgan, director of such madness as The Cat With Hands, Belial's Dream, Bobby Yeah and D Is For Deloused from ABCs of Death 2!
His chosen film?
XTRO!
An almost-Video Nasty from the glory days of censor baiting, XTRO is a gooey sci-fi classick that simply must be seen to be believed. Leave your sense of understanding at the door. You won''t be needing it.
The synopsis is as follows,
Three years ago young Tony watched with horror as his father was taken into the night sky by a mysterious blinding light and never seen again. Until now. His father is coming home but he's not the man he used to be!

Friday Jun 22, 2018
Friday Jun 22, 2018
With their harrowing trip into The Village behind them, what horrors now await Andy and Mitch as they coninue their odyssey through the world of critically maligned films?
Episode 8 sees our intrepid adventurers joined by Lawrie Brewster of Hex Studios, director of Lord of Tears, The Unkindness of Ravens, The Black Gloves and the upcoming Automata!
His chosen film?
In The Mouth of Madness.
Director John Carpenter follows up Memoirs of An Invisible Man and Body Bags with In The Mouth of Madness, his Lovecraftian opus which many consider his last great film. Starring Sam Neill, Jurgen Prochnow, Julie Carmen, David Wrner and with an appearance from Charlton Heston, In The Mouth of Madness is a superb mind-melter from one of the true Masters of horror.
The synopsis is as follows,
John Trent, an insurance investigator recently fitted for a straightjacket, tells his story to a psychiatrist. Hired to track down the missing pop-horror phenomenon Sutter Cane, a Stephen King-like author whose fans are literally mad for his books, Trent finds the supposedly fictional Hobb's End.
