21: Pumpkinhead (w/ Chris Nials)
Friday Sep 21, 2018
Friday Sep 21, 2018
Episode 21 sees Andy and Mitch joined by founder of the London Horror Society, Chris Nials.
His chosen film? Pumpkinhead!
Directed by special effects supremo Stan Winston, featuring the FX talent of Alien suit creators Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr and based on a short story by Ed Justin, 1988's Pumpkinhead is a superb film that, while in no way a bad film, is certainly underseen. Remedy that immediately and seek this one out.
The cast includes Lance Henriksen, Brian Bremer, Jeff East, Buck Flower and Florence Schauffler. Pumpkinhead also features the first film performance of Mayim Bialik!
The synopsis is as follows:
When a group of rambunctious teenagers inadvertently kill his only son, Ed Harley seeks the magic of a backwoods witch to bring the child back. But when she tells him the child's death is irrevocable, his grief develops into an all-consuming desire... for revenge! Defying superstition, he and the witch invoke 'the pumpkinhead' a monstrously clawed and fanged demon which, once reborn, answers only to Ed's bloodlust. But as the invincible creature wreaks its slow, unspeakable tortures on the teens, Ed confronts a horrifying secret about his connection to the beast and realizes that he must find a way to stop its deadly mission before he becomes one with it forever!

20: Night Train To Terror (w/ Graham Humphreys)
Friday Sep 14, 2018
Friday Sep 14, 2018
Episode 20 sees Andy and Mitch joined by (quite frankly) legendary horror artist, Graham Humphreys.
His chosen film? Night Train To Terror!
Directed by Jay Schlossberg-Cohen (among others), Night Train To Terror is a bizarre, three part portmanteau which is variously described as a shambles or as nothing short of amazing, depending on who you talk to. How will Andy & Mitch come down on it?
Featuring Tony Giorgio, Ferdy Mayne and the always great Cameron Mitchell, this is a film that will test the limits of your sanity. All aboard!
The synopsis is as follows:
Aboard a fast moving train bound for Hell, God and Satan decide the fates of three unfortunate mortals. In HARRY, a fiendish killer keeps the horribly mutilated body parts of his countless victims in a diabolical torture chamber. In GRETTA, a young woman, obsessed with death, takes part in an unspeakable ritual of Russian roulette. Finally in CLAIRE, a young woman and a Holocaust survivor are terrorized by the son of Satan!

Bonusode 2: Celluloid Screams 2018: The Line-up
Wednesday Sep 12, 2018
Wednesday Sep 12, 2018
We said we would be doing more of these as and when we deem it necessary and so, true to our word, we come again! This time bearing BONUSODE 2!
Celluloid Screams, Sheffield's horror festival, returns next month for its tenth instalment and on Friday, announced the full line-up for this year's festival which runs from the 18th-21st October at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield.
Man, oh man! What a line-up it is. Festival director Rob Nevitt and the team have put together one of the most remarkable genre film festival line-ups we have seen in recent years, featuring an exclusive preview screening of Blumhouse and David Gordon Green's Halloween, Nicolas Cage topping out his insano-meter in Panos Cosmatos' Mandy and an IN FULL screening of Wellington Paranormal, the new TV series, spun from past Celluloid selection, What We Do In The Shadows.
That's just the tip of the iceberg. The full schedule can be found below...
One tiny suggestion? At the time of recording, there were extremely limited weekend passes available. If you want to be at one of the best festivals, not just in the UK but anywhere, then you better strike now. Get your ticket. Andy and Mitch will be attending for the duration.
See you there!
You can grab tickets and find out more info on the festival at their website.

19: Lifeforce (w/ Jules Boyle)
Friday Sep 07, 2018
Friday Sep 07, 2018
Episode 19 sees Andy and Mitch joined by film/music/comic book journalist and soon-to-be author of a book on British horror films, Jules Boyle.
His chosen film? Lifeforce!
The first in a three picture deal with Golan-Globus' Cannon Group which saw Tobe Hooper also direct Invaders From Mars and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Lifeforce is a bizarre little film that is as long as it is baffling. Based on Colin Wilson's novel The Space Vampires, Lifeforce was co-written by Dan O Bannon (Alien, Return of the Living Dead).
The cast includes Steve Railsback, Peter Firth, Frank Finlay, Patrick Stewart and also features an unforgettable (and formative) performance by Mathilda May as Space Girl!
The synopsis is as follows:
IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE, THE TERROR BEGINS. When a space shuttle crew finds a mysterious spacecraft containing three human-looking creatures in a state of suspended animation, they bring them back to Earth for further investigation. It's only then that scientists discover that they are in fact a race of space vampires that feed off people's life-force rather than their blood. So when they escape and run amok in London, the consequences are apocalyptic - and the shuttle crew's only survivor seems to be the only man who can stop them.
Please note that this podcast definitely contains strong language and INCREDIBLY strong Scottish accents.

18: Saw VI (Mitch vs. Andy)
Friday Aug 31, 2018
Friday Aug 31, 2018
Episode 18 sees Andy and Mitch guestless in the wake of the shenanigans surrounding their trip to Frightfest. Resultantly, it's another head to head battle. This time, it's Mitch's choice,
His chosen film? SAW VI!
A commercial misstep for the franchise, yet considered by many to be the best entry since the third, Saw VI sees Jigsaw continue his reign of terror from beyond the grave! Or is he?
The film stars Tobin Bell as Jigsaw/John Kramer alongside Costas Mandylor, Shawnee Smith, Betsy Russell, George Newbern and MANY, MANY other disposable actors.
The synopsis is as follows:
Special Agent Strahm is dead and Detective Hoffman has been exposed as Jigsaw's undisputed replacement. As the FBI start narrowing their search for Hoffman, he is driven to protect Jigsaw's legacy and initiates a new game plan in order to ensure Jigsaw's eminent design is recognised once and for all.
