49: Ice Cream Man (w/ Justin McConnell)
Friday Apr 19, 2019
Friday Apr 19, 2019
Episode 49 sees Andy and Mitch joined by the director of the absolutely excellent Frightfest 2018/Celluloid Screams 2018 (and MANY more) selection, Lifechanger... it's Justin McConnell!
His chosen film? Ice Cream Man!
Wow. This one is pretty special. Featuring an absolutely bonkers cast with names like Olivia Hussey, David Naughton, Jan Michael Vincent, Sandahl Bergman and David Warner, Ice Cream Man is anchored by a truly interesting and oddly layered performance from Clint Howard. A quintessential video shop delight, Ice Cream Man is a forgotten oddity that is just longing to be seen... But does that make it good?
The synopsis is as follows:
Gregory, the local ice cream man, just wants people to be nice to him and to sell the neighborhood children his ice cream treats. Unfortunately, the adults disrespect him, and the kids fear him, so, as any recently released mental patient would do, Gregory begins brutally murdering anyone who prevents him from having a happy, happy, happy day...
Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents.

48: Dead Silence (w/ Louise Blain)
Friday Apr 12, 2019
Friday Apr 12, 2019
Episode 48 sees Andy and Mitch joined by YouTube producer, journalist, gamer and frequent contributor to the Evolution of Horror Podcast... it's Louise Blain!
Her chosen film? Dead Silence!
The time is sometime after Saw catapulted them into the limelight. James Wan and Leigh Whannell followed it up with this little curiosity. A film which sees Ryan Kwanten do battle with a vengeful tongue-stealin' spectre whose soul resides in a ventriloquist's dummy! This film made Andy laugh-snort several times. It's wild BUT IS IT GOOD??
The synopsis is as follows:
After his wife meets a grisly end, Jamie Ashen returns to their creepy hometown of Raven's Fair to unravel the mystery of her murder. Once there, he discovers the legend of Mary Shaw, a murdered ventriloquist whose eerie presence still looms over the town. As he desperately digs for answers, Jamie encounters the curse that took his wife's life and threatens his own.

Friday Apr 05, 2019
Friday Apr 05, 2019
Episode 47 sees Andy and Mitch joined in the SVPC HQ by the man behind film-based stand-up show Cineman, it's comedian and general film fan, Chris Thorburn!
His chosen film? Devil's Advocate!
With a A-list cast and a batshit bonkers third act, Devil's Advocate sees an incendiary performance from Al Pacino completely eclipse the robotic chops of Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron and, well, just about everyone in the film. It's a wild, old time, no mistake.
The synopsis is as follows:
Aspiring Florida defense lawyer Kevin Lomax accepts a high-powered position at a New York law firm headed by legal shark John Milton. As Kevin moves up in the firm's ranks, his wife, Mary Ann, has several frightening, mystical experiences that begin to warp her sense of reality.
With the stakes getting higher with each case, Kevin quickly learns that his mentor is planning a far greater evil than simply winning without scruples.

Friday Mar 29, 2019
Friday Mar 29, 2019
Episode 46 sees Andy and Mitch joined by...No-one! Yes, the streak has ended and due to a cancellation/rescheduling, we bring you the first Mitch v Andy episode of 2019! Andy picked Christmas Evil last time, so that means it's Mitch's turn...
His chosen film? Carrie (2013)!
You can't keep a socially awkward, psychic teen down! 2013 saw the arrival of yet another imagining of Stephen King's debut novel, starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Ansel Elgort and Portia Doubleday, the film was pretty critically reviled but has time been kind? Was thehate unmerited?
The synopsis is as follows:
High school can be tough for many teenagers, but for Carrie White, it's especially hellish. A shy and awkward teen being raised by a religious zealot, Carrie is frequently the target of bullies. But Carrie has a secret talent: She can make things move with her mind.
One fateful night, an especially cruel prank at her senior prom pushes her over the edge, and Carrie unleashes her telekinetic powers on all who get in her way.
