54: Slugs (w/ Rebekah & David McKendry)
Friday May 24, 2019
Friday May 24, 2019
Here we go. It's finally here! Episode 54! It's huge for us, so we are absolutely delighted to do it in the company of such esteemed guests. SHE is one of the co-hosts of the Blumhouse podcast ShockWaves and the new Fangoria podcast Nightmare University while HE is one of the co-hosts of Dungeons & Dragons podcast Fear Initiative and they are BOTH co-directors of Christmas horror anthology, All The Creatures Were Stirring... it's Rebekah and David McKendry!
Their chosen film? Slugs!
It's finally here! The podcast has finally come full circle with this, Slugs, the film that began it all! Yes! Over a year ago now, Andy subjected Mitch to the film after several bottles of wine and a podcast was born. Now, this horror power couple have selected it for defence. Does it need defending? Perhaps. Should you watch it? 100%.
Directed by JP Simon, who also brought us the wonderfully batshit Pieces, Slugs delivers insanity, gore and goo by the bucketload and somehow manages to become a film the belies its budget to become a riotous, urgently paced experience.
The Synopsis is as follows:
The townsfolk of a rural community are dying in strange and gruesome circumstances. Following the trail of horrifically mutilated cadavers, resident health inspector Mike Brady is on the case to piece together the mystery. He soon comes to a terrifying conclusion giant slugs are breeding in the sewers beneath the town, and they're making a meal of the locals!
Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents.

53: Self-Defence: Contracted: Phase 2 (w/ Josh Forbes)
Friday May 17, 2019
Friday May 17, 2019
If Episode 52 is notable for 2 things, then this, Episode 53, is also notable for something new and also for something quite bold... Regular listeners will know that we have long imagined a time when a filmmaker would be daring enough to bring on one of their own films and, yes, it's finally happened. First up, it's director and host of Blumhouse podcast, Fear Initiative... it's Josh Forbes!
His chosen film? Well, it is of course, his own film, Contracted: Phase 2!
Coming hot on the heels of the original, Contracted: Phase 2 sees previous podcast guest Matt Mercer level up into the lead role of Riley, battling the gooey disease ravaging his body. Josh's discussion is frank, honest and an incredibly revealing peek into his thoughts on the film and his journey with it.
The Synopsis is as follows:
It's spreading... After Contracted unleashed the world's most horrifying virus, this sequel picks up the story as newly infected Riley races against time to contain the outbreak, even as it ravages his own body. But how do you stop a disease when you are the disease?
Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents.

52: Meet The Feebles (w/ Aaron McCann & Dominic Pearce)
Friday May 10, 2019
Friday May 10, 2019
Episode 52 is notable for 2 things. 1: Dodgy sound, for which Andy apologises profusely, and 2: for being our first ever episode to feature not one but TWO guests, this time in the shapes of the directing duo behind the EXCELLENT Top Knot Detective... It's Aaron McCann and Dominic Pearce!
Their chosen film? Meet The Feebles!
Way before Lord of The Rings and even before there was Braindead, yet after he left a Bad Taste in your mouth, director Peter Jackson again dabbled in the extremities of taste with his 1989 gross-out puppet feature, Meet The Feebles. Overlooked and having not aged too well in certain areas, it's one that's often forgotten. But should you check it out?
The Synopsis is as follows:
Cult director Peter Jackson creates a sort of sleazebag Muppet world in this story of everyday life behind the scenes of a third-rate vaudeville show. Manager Bletch, a walrus, cheats on his long-suffering hippo wife, negotiates cocaine deals and makes sex'n'snuff movies (featuring a cow and a cockroach) in the cellar. Among his 'stars' are a junkie frog and a sexually-insatiable rabbit with a potentially deadly secret.

Friday May 03, 2019
Friday May 03, 2019
Well, all that build up to our first year and it's flown by. That's that. We are now in year two. So it's on with EPISODE 51!
This week, Andy and Mitch are joined by the Editor-In-Chief of Dread Central, it's Jonathan Barkan!
His chosen film? Lord of Illusions!
Writer/Director follows up Nightbreed with this, an adaptation of his own short story The Last Illusion in a bizarre (depending on the version you've watched) film that, while very Barker, is a weird best that demands closer scrutiny. How does it hold up?
Private eye Harry D'Amour travels to Los Angeles and meets with a new client, Dorothea Swann. Swann reveals that she and her husband -- famed magician Philip Swann -- have been targeted by a religious cult experimenting with reincarnation. After Philip dies on stage in the midst of a dangerous trick, D'Amour must struggle to protect Dorothea from the ruthless cult members and their newly reanimated religious leader, Nix.

50: The Hole (w/ Duncan McLeish)
Sunday Apr 28, 2019
Sunday Apr 28, 2019
Welcome all to Episode 50, our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY episode!
So, what better way to commemorate it than by bringing back a past guest... You might know him from Episode 4: In Defence of Rawhead Rex or indeed, his own podcast, The Podcast Under The Stairs, it's the hardest working man in horror podcasting, we are delighted to welcome Duncan McLeish back to the show!
His chosen film? The Hole!
A forgotten oddity from a bygone era! A time where teen horror was on the wane but a time that still saw the release of The Hole! Starring Thora Birch, Dexter's Desmond Harrington, Keira Knightley and Army of Darkness' Embeth Davidtz, The Hole is a strange little film that doesn't quite fit anywhere. Does it deserve to be consigned to the vaults? Does it deserve a second look? Let's find out... OH! Please note that this episode contains conversations of an adult nature.
The synopsis is as follows:
Tragically mysterious deaths have occurred, and English schoolgirl Liz Dunn knows what happened, so psychiatrist Philippa Horwood is brought in to investigate. Liz's story: Her friend Martyn sealed her, her pal Frances and handsome classmate Mike in a bomb shelter and left them to die. Only that might not be true, as Martyn claims Liz masterminded the plan that brought about such disturbing consequences.
Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents.
